A village rebuilt for modern learners
Grāma means village in Kannada and that's exactly who we are. A living community of elders, farmers, industry experts, craftspeople, naturalists, and children who come together around a shared belief: that we are part of nature.
At Grāma, we reconnect individuals to nature, community and self. Here, nature is the teacher, and the village is the classroom. Elders and children gather side by side, sharing skills, wisdom and perspective in a way that has always felt natural.
We Lead with Belongingness and not Fear
We believe that knowing where you come from, your land, your ecology, your community shapes how you live, learn and choose. Conservation becomes inevitable when an individual is aware that they are part of nature, not apart from it.
Intergenerational by Design
Learning is not one sided. Although, the participants specifically come to learn, we don’t believe in the one-way knowledge flow system. Children too have valuable knowledge to contribute to the village. This design ensures agency and respect to every member of the village, regardless of their age.
Learning to Learn
We don't teach answers. We cultivate the instincts that find them. We encourage curiosity, wonder, observation, and ecological thinking that last a lifetime.
Interconnectedness
No person, species, or system exists alone. We help people see themselves within nature, not separate from it.
Empathy
Care for the natural world begins with feeling it. When children observe, tend and spend time with living things, empathy isn't instructed, it emerges.
